3 ways to beat procrastination

Ahh. Motivation. One of the most dreadful but important topics to talk about. I am usually (about 80% of the time) really excited to talk about motivation, because I, myself, feel motivated. But what happens when the other 20% hits? I sleep. I self-sabotage and ruminate on the little mistakes I've made. I beat myself up over the time I haven't spent working on things that I want to succeed in. And this goes on and on and on until I fall asleep or until something dramatic happens and smacks me right into positive mode all over again. Thankfully, I have started to understand this pattern and how to fix it. I will share with you the top 3 methods I use for getting into a motivated state of being...
1. Sleep
I listen to a bit of Abraham-Hicks (for those who don't know her, Ms. Hicks is a woman that channels "Abraham", and talks about the law of attraction and success). In one of her videos, she said that the best way to stop a downward spiral is to take a nap. It's the easiest way to reset your consciousness and prepare it for whatever task you have in mind. Plus, sleeping is an amazing way for your brain to compartmentalize information for later use. Sometimes, our thoughts feel foggy. Sleeping for a 20-minute nap can bring you the clarity you may have been looking for.
2. Mantra
This is probably the one I use most. A mantra is a powerful word or sentence that you can use to change your state of consciousness in a heartbeat. The key is to find one that you resonate with on a heart level. Your heart chakra will let you know when you've found your personal mantra because you will feel all warm and fuzzy. My personal mantra is actually a spin-off of Rumi's quote: everything that you want to become, you already are. Instead, I make it more personal and say: everything that I want to be, I already am. In the spiritual sense, this is true, because time does not exist. So if you can visualize it, it's already here.
3. Meditate
Last but not least, meditation. Not necessarily a long, drawn out one sitting in the lotus position. But a smaller, possibly 5 - 10 minutes, reset meditation. Like I suggested earlier, sleeping works wonders for changing your state of mind and getting you motivated for the task at hand. In a similar fashion, meditation resets your mind and works like a mini-refreshing nap for your overactive mind. Meditating for only 5 minutes a day can make an impact on your performance, and relieve the stress that was making you procrastinate in the first place.
Alas, those are my top three methods to get yourself motivated when you feel like you're in a slump. Almost making the cut, I would add taking a walk outside in nature, and re-energizing your brain with fresh air and a beautiful view. If you have another tip on how to get motivated, I would love for you to write in the comment section and share with our readers.
Next, I will be seeing you tomorrow in my youtube video.
Love and light,
Mandy xoxo
