How to get motivated again after doing nothing

I was conflicted about how to name this blog post, but I think you will relate to the feeling of not being motivated after taking a break from work or your creative projects. I'm naturally a very creative person, but my productivity ebbs and flows. I don't always post but when I do, I feel like bombarding my followers with all of my ideas and posts. Yet sometimes, I can't even get out of bed for a full day, let alone create something that is worth sharing. So what gives?
Since I have a very spiritual background, a lot of my self help tools are inspired by spirituality, or the concept of the soul and higher self. The higher self could be considered like the part of yourself that is wise and always knows what advice to give. I connect with this part of myself whenever I feel lost and confused, and I always get an idea of what to do to get myself out of a rut. Since this post is about getting motivated after doing nothing, I will explain to you what my higher self has shown to me as a solution to this problem.
What you can do is practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being completely present in the moment, and letting go of our ideas about the past and the future. Whenever we are in a rut, the worst mistake we make is that we keep repeating to ourselves that we are in a rut and dwelling on the fact that we haven't done anything productive, over and over again. That is the opposite of what mindfulness is. In a practice of presence, you forget whatever happened in the past and you start fresh, every single second is a new beginning.
What that creates in you is a sense of excitement, instead of a feeling of disappointment. You can always press the reset button and focus on the now, instead of dwelling on where you messed up. Every "NOW" is a new beginning, a fresh start into the person you want to become. Another practice that you can add to this is positive visualization, in which you visualize yourself making positive changes and succeeding in whatever endeavour you have planned.
And there you have it. I use both mindfulness and visualization every single time I feel like I can't get out of a less productive period, and I reframe the way I think about the experience by saying "this moment is a brand new moment where I can change and create anything in the world" instead of of "how will I get out of this slump?". I hope this was helpful, and if you have anything to share, please comment or message me for a chat! I love to connect with anyone who is interested in the subject of spirituality, personal development and wellness.
